Azbil North America Introduces AX24 Multivariable Vortex Flowmeter

AX24 Multivariable Vortex Flowmeter delivers accurate and reliable flow metering in a multivariable design

Azbil North America has officially released the AX24 Multivariable Vortex Flowmeter. This flowmeter offers accurate and reliable flow metering in a multivariable design. The multivariable design incorporates a high-accuracy velocity sensor, a precision platinum RTD temperature sensor, and a solid-state pressure transducer. The AX24 can deliver volumetric flow, mass flow, temperature, pressure, density, and energy (BTU) measurements from a single installed device. This drastically reduces complexity, equipment costs, and installation costs in comparison to installing multiple stand-alone instruments to arrive at the same process measurements.

The AX24 includes a reduced bore option. The meter’s process connections match the line size but using integrated reducing flanges, the meter body is reduced in diameter. This increases the fluid velocity through the meter. Increasing the velocity in this fashion extends the meter’s measuring range to capture lower flow rates that might otherwise be missed in a full line size meter. This reduced bore option also shares the same face-to-face dimension as a standard AX24 meter for pressure classes up to ANSI 600. So if process conditions change, the meter body size can be changed without any costly piping modifications. This is especially useful in project planning, as it allows for flexibility into the future.

The AX24 flowmeter offers an industry-leading variety of communication and power options. In addition to providing traditional communication methods such as analog output signals, the flowmeter also offers the latest and most advanced serial communication options such as BACnet®/IP and Modbus® TCP/IP. The AX24 is the only vortex flowmeter on the market to provide Power over Ethernet (PoE) capabilities. Power over Ethernet functionality delivers power and data through a single ethernet cable. Both simplifying installation and reducing installation costs.

Azbil’s Greenhouse Gas Emissions Reduction Targets for 2030 Approved by Science Based Targets Initiative

TOKYO, Japan – June 7, 2019: Azbil Corporation is proud to announce that the targets it set for reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2030 have been approved by the Science Based Target initiative (SBTi) as having a scientific basis for achieving the Paris Agreement’s goal of keeping global temperature increase below 2 degrees Celsius compared to pre-industrial levels.

Since its founding, Azbil, along with the azbil Group, has supported the development of society and industry, and worked to reduce environmental impact through not only internal activities but also products, services, and solutions based on measurement and control technology.

Azbil set its targets to cover a wide range, from its own business activities to its entire supply chain and considers them to be the type of important and actionable goals to counteract global warming that corporations around the world are striving for. Through this, the SBTi recognized those targets as meeting its rigorous guidelines. In order to ensure that it reaches those targets, Azbil plans to set numerical goals every three years and engage in initiatives such as advancing and enhancing energy-saving measures within the azbil Group and increasing usage of solar power and other renewable energy sources, all the while working to formulate new measures.

Azbil Completes Construction of New Production Facility

-Paves Way for the start of Azbil Group’s “Mother Factory”

Tokyo, Japan – June 4, 2019, Azbil Corporation announced the completed construction of a 136701 square foot production facility at its main factory near the city of Shonan (Kanagawa prefecture, Japan). The new building is part of Azbil’s “mother factory” framework, which is expected to lead production innovation. The building is part of the group’s plans to consolidate domestic factories in order to create an advanced production network and further optimize overall production.  With the addition of a new administration building built in June 2018 and the new facility, the Shonan factory will be the primary base for the Azbil Corporation’s global production network.

The “mother factory” will apply its best practices to other factories. It will include not only the Shonan factory but also the Fujisawa Technology Center, Azbil’s R&D facility located in the nearby city of Fujisawa. Created through collaborative efforts of both locations, the mother factory is expected to advance innovation for the next generation of production that brings humans, machines and processes.

Azbil’s new mother factory will perform three vital functions.

Create: While pursuing the latest technologies and developing MEMS*1 sensor package technology, the mother factory will create new and exceptional high value-added products and advanced production processes through leveraging automatic microassembly/microprocessing, AI, and ICT*2 technologies during production.

Verify: The mother factory will support high-mix low-volume as well as customized production. Through the development of advanced automated production lines where humans and machines work together, will be a place that will allow verification of production that is competitive, flexible, and resilient. The factory’s high-mix production allows the company to produce over 7000 varieties of control valves alone. The factory will employ an inspection system using AI to prevent human error and a thorough quality control system that utilizes big data. At the same time, Azbil will implement advanced automation based on AI and the Internet of Things (IoT) into various processes, including work that traditionally required human skills or judgement.

Lead: The Shonan factory will lead the azbil Group’s efforts in production, logistics, and procurement, standardizing various processes for global production and applying those practices to Group factories worldwide. The factory will also facilitate training of employees around the world in production and management.

Since 2013, Azbil Corporation has been reorganizing its production bases worldwide. By optimizing the location of development and production functions, azbil Group is engaged in restructuring its advanced development and production network. In addition to completing the new administrative and production buildings, Azbil is also consolidating their nearby Isehara factory with the Shonan factory to improve the Group’s overall production efficiency.

Guided by the philosophy of “human-centered automation,” the azbil Group strives to contribute to a better society by developing and providing products and services that address customers’ needs.
