Applications Engineer – Americas

JOB TITLE:  Applications Engineer – Americas

BUSINESS UNIT:  Sales

REPORTS TO:   VP of Sales

RECEIVES ADDITIONAL DIRECTION FROM:

Azbil VorTek CEO, Azbil North America CEO                                                                                                                   

POSITION SUMMARY:

Provides technical sales and applications engineering support to Azbil direct customers, outside salesperson(s), and manufacturer’s representatives and distributors.  Serves as an Azbil Solutions Product expert within the region (Americas), articulating and promoting key differentiators and value propositions.  Provides legacy and current product support, and can assist Sales in appropriate technology selection.  Develops compelling customer proposals and content for Sales with counter positioning statements as needed against competitors.  Offers after-sales support, technical assistance, and RMA/Warranty assistance ensuring customer satisfaction

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides technical sales support, applications engineering support, and product training for Sales channel partners and customers
  • Utilizes the Salesforce environment to proactively track customer and channel partner communications
  • Supports the development of custom technical Sales content and training portfolios for channel partner portals
  • Prepares project submittals and drawings as needed
  • Supports the Sales strategic initiatives within the Americas to ensure all goals are met 
  • Provides Sales leadership with input on market dynamics, growth opportunities, and threats to the business
  • As needed, partners with Product Management, Quality, Marketing and Engineering in Japan for Americas customer support
  • As needed, utilizes web conferencing tools to promote Azbil product value propositions
  • Performs other duties within the Americas as they develop or as requested

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Standard office environment utilizing mobile phone, laptop, copier, etc
  • Some travel may be required; up to 25% possible

SKILLS:

  • Salesforce experience (required)
  • Working knowledge of Azbil markets and sales channels (preferred)
  • Ability to comprehend and relate technical product and process specifications
  • Ability to review ISA data sheets to provide appropriate product choice(s)
  • Strong team player with a demonstrated ability to work productively with internal functional groups to support and respond to customers
  • Excellent communication skills — in writing, by phone, and group and one-on-one presentations
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to condense information into actionable lists
  • Ability to exercise strong follow-up on commitments
  • Fluent in using all common Windows programs – Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, with the ability to quickly learn new business systems (WebEx, M2M, Sharepoint, etc.)

EXPERIENCE:

Essential:

  • 3+ years experience in an Applications Engineering, Technical Support, or Field Service account management position in a similar field
  • Working knowledge of Azbil products, applications, and industries (preferred)
  • Experience working for or with companies who manufacture Field Instruments (preferred)

EDUCATION:

Required:

BS in Engineering disciplines, or equivalent education and/or experience.
